JESUS GIVES MEANING TO OUR LIVES
JESUS GIVES MEANING TO OUR LIVES
John 15:1 (Message); 6"You didn't choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won't spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you.”
I am personally persuaded that only FAITH IN JESUS can greatly complement any effort to overcome depression. It is though a growing faith in Jesus alone that we can be over comers.
There are several things that we can learn from this particular verse alone:
WE HAVE BEEN CHOSEN. “You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you.” He chose us. God looked at our frailties and had pity upon us. Then, out of the people in the world, God has selected us and set us apart for a purpose. We are now His. We belong to Him. We have been invited to have a special relationship with Him. We have been endued with much power from on high. We have been placed in the ministry. We could no longer live an idle life. Because we have been put into commission. We have a special work to do for God. We have been given a great trust from God. We have been called his ambassadors. We have been given much honor. Therefore, we must not be weary in doing good. We must be diligent in our work. Because we are stewards of His great Kingdom. Remember: You and I have been chosen by God. Praise God! Just the thought of it will eliminate any glimpse of depression. There is no reason for us to be depressed.
WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN A MANDATE. “And put you in the world to bear fruit.” – Our work is to bear fruit. This is our mandate. This is our calling. People who are not bearing fruit can easily lose sight of the goal and become depressed. But those who have great faith are fruitful. They can easily overcome depression. In addition, our fruit honors God. This fruit is a manifestation of true Christianity. We must exemplify the purity and the power of the true religion that we profess. The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control. (Gal. 5:22-23) With fruits like these, there is no room for feelings of hopelessness and depression. There is great glory that we will receive just by being fruitful. This is our mandate. We must be fruitful.
WE ARE SIGNIFICANT. – “Fruit that won’t spoil” The fruit that we bear will not spoil. Our work will not be in vain. It will last for eternity. We will have a long lasting contribution on earth. The good labors of our work will continue in the world from generation to generation, to the end of time. Think of the people that you will bring to a personal relationship with Christ. Think of the influence that they can do to their families and friends as well. Think of the eternal legacy that you can leave. We are significant. We are important. Again, there is no reason for us to be depressed anymore.
2 Peter 3:18 (NLT) – “But grow in the SPECIAL favor and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
WE ARE GREATLY LOVED – “Whatever you ask the father in relation to me, he gives you.” Once we bear our fruit, the Father will then give us everything that we ask. This is a good sign that we are greatly love of the Father. It is a good feeling to know that we have a God that we can go to and ask whatever we need. Then, the promise is that he will grant it to us. Awesome! We have a blank check in heaven ready for us to fill it up by faith. Many people have not been using their blank check. They don’t believe in this promise. They do not have faith at all! No wonder they are easily depressed. But for us, it’s different. We This great promise will greatly keep us comfortable in His love thereby destroying all forms of depression from our lives.
Daniel 10:11 (NLT) – “And the man said to me, ‘O Daniel, GREATLY LOVED of God, listen carefully to what I have to say to you. Stand up for I have been sent to you…” More next time.
